Covolux is a long-running project by the extremely creative Kai Nobuko, who is best known for his work as Toxic Chicken. As with the previous Covolux released on Earthrid, ‘Amersfoort’, the all-embracing label “ambient” does not do justice to Covolux’s lush, ebullient music.
Imagine a verdant inner world that mirrors that of the natural world, with sounds that grow and intertwine to form prodigious forests and fecund pastureland. You may soon find yourself contentedly wandering through those imaginary, internal landscapes.
We asked Kai, the solitudinarian himself, what motivated the reclusive theme of the album, but he would say only that listening would say all that needed to be said. We turn instead then to a reliable source for quotes on solitude, Henry David Thoreau, who wrote:
“I had three chairs in my house; one for solitude, two for friendship, three for society.”
Please pull up a chair, and make yourself at home.
… radiant electronic experiments in the key of solitude (but not in a lonely, isolated way). This is an immersive, ecstatic and verdant kind of alone.
Total playing time: 38 minutes.
